Process

How we build your software

Our work follows eight stages, from the first conversation to software in everyday use. We establish feasibility, project scope and responsibilities before development begins.

01

Understand the work

We review your activities, people and tools with you to define the problem and the project requirements.

02

Check feasibility

We assess constraints, risks and technical options to establish what is feasible and how to structure the software and data.

03

Agree scope and responsibilities

We agree what is included, who is responsible for each part and the acceptance criteria, giving the project a scope we can check against.

04

Design the solution

We design screens, user journeys and data flows to turn the requirements into a solution ready for development.

05

Build and connect

We develop the agreed features and connect them to your systems, turning the design into working software.

06

Check quality and security

We test features, performance and security controls against the agreed criteria and address the issues we find.

07

Put the system into use

We prepare the environment and put the software into use according to the release plan, checking that it works as intended.

08

Monitor and improve

We monitor the system and handle maintenance and improvements under the agreed terms to support everyday use.

Working with DEMA

Our role in your project

You can bring us in for a specific task, a complete project or ongoing software management. We agree how to work together around your needs and the people already involved.

01

Technical assessment

We assess the system's current state, risks and technical structure to give you a plan for the work ahead.

02

Complete project

We take technical responsibility for analysis, development, testing and release within the agreed scope.

03

First version or proof of concept

We test feasibility and how the system will work with a prototype or first usable version before you make a larger investment.

04

Modernisation and migration

We modernise applications, platforms and data in stages, planning the transition to protect day-to-day operations.

05

Taking over existing software

We assess and stabilise existing software, then plan maintenance and improvements, including when taking over from another supplier.

06

Within your technical team

We work within your technical team, using your existing tools and development practices.

07

Services for partners

We handle development under the partner's coordination, with roles and commercial boundaries agreed before work begins.

08

Ongoing management

We provide hosting, monitoring, maintenance and support under the terms agreed for your project.

Working principles

Three guiding principles

Security at every stage

From analysis to maintenance, we build in controls for access, data and code. Security is part of the design and the checks before release.

Human review first

Automations that send external communications or materially affect decisions start with human review. We consider full automation only after validating the process.

Clear responsibilities

We agree the scope, responsibilities and working terms before starting. For migrations, we also clarify the risks and the limits of our work.

Find the right starting point

Show us a process or system you want to improve. A technical assessment helps establish its current state, risks and required work before we put together a proposal.
